What's This Thing Called JOY?
What is this thing called Joy?
Do you think joy occurs naturally?
Can we create it on demand?
Ingrid Fetell Lee, a designer who has studied joy, says, “psychologists define joy as an intense momentary feeling of positive emotion.”
In researching joy, it has been found that specific shapes and colours can inspire joy within us.
For example, colourful workplaces rather than the drab ones most ones have worked in are proven to increase confidence, a feeling of safety, and better work focus.
Children are known to be joyful when they are young. You have felt the joy of holding a baby or playing with a young child.
This joy is within all of us for our whole life.
However, as we mature, our egos develop to adapt to social norms, and judgment steps in to determine feelings and actions around our activities.
As a result, we lose awareness of joy in everyday life.
Recover your joy, and it will change your mindset for your life.
How do you recover your joy?
Become aware of joyful moments
Be present during your day to notice what brings you a feeling of warmth, energy, and positivity
Make it a practice to look for joy in every encounter and activity. See what happens.
When you live with the practice of looking for joyful moments, you will change your inner guidance system, and you will feel more joy.
Have a joyful day, week, month…lifetime!
All my best
