Coaching with Joshua-How To change Familiar Life Patterns
I'm finishing my first cup of coffee, deep in thought about my passion for teaching and my conversations with Joshua.
The mornings are chilly now, so the garden doors are closed, although, in my mind's eye, I feel the garden with its subtle energy. The plants' are making preparations for winter sleep.
Out of the garage comes a flashlight. I'm assuming it is Joshua.
He is sensitive to my energy, so I'm sure he is coming to talk to me.
I open the garden door quietly.
Joshua has on a parka, blue jeans, and his ever-present baseball cap.
"I can understand why you don't come out to the garage on these cooler mornings, Howard.
However, I could hear you calling me in your mind.
People underestimate the power of thought.
What do you want to talk about this morning?"
"I've been thinking a lot about the current world situation and the new reality in which we find ourselves.
The anxiety, fear, and worry are high now. Spurred on through the media, we are constantly reminded of the dire situation.
What's missing is that we are not talking about how we feel.
Familiar life patterns have shaped our lives.
Parents and culture taught these interpretations of how life is supposed to work.
We are reacting now as though what we learned is true.
Unfortunately, these life patterns are not working well in our current environment.
We have put aside our creative side and hunkered down to deal with the pandemic, which is profoundly affecting us emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually."
"I can see that, Howard.
This situation requires an inward journey.
The inspiration for human lives is in your heart.
The answer to the anxiety and fear is not about working harder in old ways.
I want to give you a five-step plan I hope you will take and share with your people."
"Yes, I'd love that.
I've been thinking about how to present a new idea to people. Hopefully, we can see that the old ways are not coming back soon, if at all.
We need new methods of living fully and magnificently from inside our hearts rather than externally through activities."
"Right. The first thing is to let people know this is an inward journey.
It requires quiet time and reflection with confidence. A way of life will emerge for them that is fulfilling.
This process is called the S.T.A.R.T. formula for thriving.
S is for STOP and look inward.
T means TAKE INVENTORY of your life.
A means to ACCESS your authentic self.
R is to RELEASE anxiety through intentional living.
T is to TRUST your authentic self to discover and use new strategies to THRIVE in your new reality.
I know people will want more information about this path.
There is a path in which life can be more fulfilling and bring more satisfaction.
A happier life is possible, even in a world that feels fearful and chaotic.
We will talk more about this another time.
Namaste.
