With My Colour-Blind Vision
Our world is a beautiful place filled with vibrant colours and shapes.
We are in the springtime now moving into summer. The sun and water helping the plants and trees show off their colours.
I wonder what you see?
I have been colour-blind all my life so I don’t know what colours you see when you look at a plant or lilac tree.
What looks pink to you might look green to me. I don’t know.
I don’t judge myself for being wrong anymore. I used to think there was something wrong with me when I labeled colour-blindness as a defect.
What I have learned is that my world is different than yours.
When we differ on opinions about things this gives me compassion for myself and you.
There is more understanding that perspective is in the eye of the beholder.
I may not understand your position about something and I may even think you are wrong but then I remember we all have an individual view.
It is hard sometimes to understand your point of view even though I know your perspective is your interpretation of your world at the moment.
Each one of us is unique in how we see and interact with our world.
My colour-blindness provides a unique view.
What it has done for me is to step back, take a moment and listen to what you are saying about what you see.
