My Dog Ate The Pork Roast

I walked in the door, and Kerry called me into the living room.

“Your dog ate the pork roast from the kitchen counter.” She said.

Her reference to Toby being my dog was to emphasize the fact that he had done something bad.

She continued, “I was in the living room speaking with someone, and I heard him drinking water, then silence. I wondered what he was doing in the kitchen. I got up and walked into the kitchen to find him with his paws up on the counter, finishing the last bits of the roast I had sliced for my lunch.”

There is a bit of humour in this story but maybe a more serious message.

When we leave essential things unattended, unintended consequences can happen.

I take this as a lesson in awareness that my dog will go for whatever seems tasty, and I do the same.

How do you do that in your life?

Do you go after the next shiny object that catches your attention?

That could be even if the object is a distraction, not something important.

There are consequences to our actions.

What’s your story of going after the next thing that catches your attention rather than focusing on what is important?
