I Wonder If There Is A School Of Unlearning
The title of this blog is from a fabulous book written by Charlie Mackesy, The Boy, the mole, the fox, and the horse.
This book is about life, love, and kindness.
The simplicity of Charlie's writing is so engaging. It took me into the relationship between these four loveable characters.
The lesson for me is about how we have adapted to our ways of life.
Just think about it for a moment.
How do you unconsciously act that seems so normal to you that you never think of doing something different.
Take a look for yourself at the habits you use every day. What do you want to keep, and what do you want to let go?
At some point in our lives, we come up against what we have learned and wonder why things are not working the way we intended.
The boy asks the mole, "what do you think success is?"
"To love," says the mole.
Sitting quietly together, the boy and the mole ponder this idea,
"Isn't it odd. We can only see our outsides, but nearly everything happens on the inside."
I am unlearning some of the lessons of the past. For example, how I automatically react to situations in a particular manner.
All of it is up for grabs to see what I might create in a new way.
The unlearning will, I believe, result in healing and a sense of appreciation of who I want to be at this stage in my life.
"I've realized why I am here," whispered the boy.
"For cake?" asked the mole.
"To Love," said the boy
"And be loved," said the horse.
