Coaching With Joshua - Keep the Faith...No Matter What
I'm sitting in my favourite chair this morning. The air is crisp, and the sky is becoming a light blue as the sun rises.
I have been reflecting on my relationship with Joshua. He mysteriously came into my life as a guide a while ago. He has been a blessing to me.
I write these notes so I can share his wisdom with you. We'd love to hear from you. So drop us a line anytime at support@howardjparsons.com
In the bible story of Joshua, he is a leader of his people appointed by Moses to lead the clan.
When he was leading the Israelites to the promised land, he never gave up. He kept his faith that he would be successful no matter what.
My garage is pretty old, so it is darker these mornings. The morning light takes longer to come up.
Joshua is sitting on his tire, pedestal reading a book.
"Hey Joshua, what are you reading?"
"Good morning, Howard, I'm reading passages from The Prophet.
Here's one I like,
"The timeless in you is aware of life's timelessness. And knows that yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream."
― Khalil Gibran
"That's interesting; you quoted a passage about tomorrow's dream.
I've been thinking about my memories and dreams about how I can keep the faith going toward what I want in my life.
One memory I have is when I was diagnosed with cancer.
I remember the feeling of despair and powerlessness.
Inside me was a hopelessness about something growing in my body I could not control.
Do you feel that way when it seems what you want in your life will never come?"
"No, I have been through a lot in my life, and I have learned a few things along the way.
When I make a decision, my action is consistent with where I am going.
Here is what I know.
You must accept one hundred percent responsibility for your life.
You must look to see what your part is in creating the experience of your life.
You've worked hard.
You have applied yourself in the best way you know how and still, your desires are not realized.
The lesson you may have learned from your cancer experience, which included radical surgery, was the ego must be put aside in favour of your hearts' intuition.
There are times when the ego, which is trying to keep everything the same, is not helpful.
When you are on the operating table, the ego is not present.
You are entirely dependent on the skill of the surgeon and the nurses.
The lesson is, let go.
You had no choice except to let go and let the medical team save your life.
What if you decide to ask your ego to step aside? Then make your authentic self your guide?
Look deeply into your heart and express love for your life.
You are ready for the changes you want in your life, Howard.
Today is the time you need your soul voice (authentic self), not your ego.
Howard, what is the name you have given your authentic self?"
"The name I gave my authentic self is Howiej.
Howiej never gives up.
He is quietly persistent in his bid to take the next step.
Howiej is connected to and guided by the intuition of his heart.
Each time I face obstacles that might seem impossible, I can count on Howiej to keep the faith.
I learned through my cancer experience to count on my intuition rather than my ego.
The challenge is the ego keeps coming back time and time again to take control."
"Yes, the ego is persistent and is trying to be helpful.
Here are some ideas I want you to work with this week:
1. Never let go of the choice you have made with your heart. A heart-centred intention is a powerful force.
2. Take one hundred percent responsibility for your actions.
3. Ask yourself, what is my part in creating my experience.
4. Live as though your future is here with you now. See it, live it and feel it every day.
5. Take action every day in your dream.
6. Remember, powers are at work in support of what you are doing. The greatest of these is love and forgiveness.
7. When you connect your heart with the choice you have made, faith is present.
Remember the words of John Lewis.
"Lean toward the whispers of your own heart, discover the universal truth, and follow its dictates."
Namaste
Joshua
