Just Because Your Eyes Are Closed Doesn’t Mean You Are Asleep
I think one of the best inventions is the heating pad.
When I get into bed I luxuriate in the warmth of the sheets.
I place the heating pad on my lower back and feel the heat penetrate and soothe my body.
This is luxury and a feeling of joy as I close my eyes.
Sleep comes easily at first.
Then around 2:00 am the gremlin wakes me up!
This voice, with which I am familiar has a big agenda it needs to speak about whether I’m ready or not.
Do you know of what I speak here?
The gremlin, I think, is always waiting for the opppoortuunity disturb my peaceful sleep.
The prime time is the middle of the night when I my guard is down and my mind is quiet.
Isn’t it amazing what the gremlin will come up with to talk about when the house is quiet, everyone is sleeping and I am the prime candidate for it’s rants.
The issues raised are at best flimsy and there is nothing to be done practically speaking at 2:00 am!
So, here I am trying to convince my gremlin to leave me sleep and its response it to get louder.
What is your process when this happens to you?
I head off the possibility of having my sleep disturbed by affirming before I go to sleep that I will sleep soundly without disturbance.
This process doesn’t always work since there seems to be a correlation between the intensity of my day, and the struggle I have made up in my mind.
Let there be peace in my world.
