Go To Your Room
How many of us have heard these words, "Go to your room"
Many of us heard this said to us as children as a form of punishment.
Even now, as parents, have you told your child to "Go to your room!"
It is a familiar phrase for many of us.
Here's a different take on this phrase.
To go to your room is an amazing trip into quiet time, silence, and solitude.
It is a place where you can create a sanctuary of peace in your body, peace in your mind, peace in your heart, and peace in your soul.
In the space created by the silence, we can hear our souls talk to us.
Our soul is our connection to a power greater than ourselves and the link to our authentic self.
Marianne Williamson says, "The soul is the truth of who we are."
For centuries, the monks and clerics have used the practice of solitude to connect and receive answers to their life's journey.
The monks of St, Fionan's monastery, Ireland, lived in beehive-shaped huts made from stone. Their lives were dedicated to praying and study.
I'm not suggesting you head to Ireland to find a stone hut.
Your bedroom or study will do.
Here is my invitation to you:
I invite you to go to your room and sit comfortably.
Take a deep breath and bring yourself present to your body.
Notice with awareness how you feel.
Is there anything you need to do to create more comfort and space?
Now, I invite you to drop into the sanctuary of your heart.
Imagine yourself in a beautiful, imaginative dwelling space. Allow it to be warm and colourful.
This is the place we meet the intuitive nature of universal energy.
Allow yourself to be here now, letting go of your to-do list.
Notice the quietness of your breath and body.
Breathe deeply and quietly.
Your authentic self is available to you here to be embraced simply for who you are in this moment.
Then take a moment to remember what you are grateful for in your life.
Let the warmth fill you up and send love to those out in the world, known and unknown.
Now gently bring yourself back to your awareness of your heart, your mind, your body.
Take some gentle breaths and begin your day once again.
Namaste
